In 1902, Albert Bourque build the legendary Bourque's bar next to the Railroad tracks in what would later become the City of Scott, Louisiana. He would coin the phrase "Where the West begins", as this was a stop for Cattlemen on the Old Spanish Trail.
Over the last century Bourque's has been a bar, a general store, it's rumored to have been a brothel, an antique store, and the Gallery and Studio for Floyd Sonnier.
Today it's run in the same spirit as Mr. Bourque. A gathering place for local and traveling musicians, Bourque's has become a haven for traditional music lovers and those who appreciate Cajun and Creole culture. Live shows which eschew the orthodoxy that often limits a blues or folk club. NO COVER SONGS! Acts appearing at the club include country gospel legend Charlie Louvin, Lazy Lester, Bonnie Prince Billy, Horace Trahan, Michael Doucet, Kenneth Richard, DL Menard, Christine Balfa, The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit, Scott H Biram, Mike Dean, Zachary Richard, Michael Juan Nunez, Abe Manuel jr. You never know who you'll see when you walk through the door.
